I stay at many hotels, both business and pleasure and this was one of the best that I have come across. Very convenient location, large, comfortable rooms, simply but effectively furnished, an excellent bathroom and a private garden/terrace. Lots of dining and drinking options for a small hotel and huge flexibility in the timing and availability of food. This hotel is certainly not restrained by set meal times! The food, incidentally, is excellent - and there is a good choice of local and Western dishes. The local dishes were particularly good..... But the important thing is the people. Attentive, well trained staff with the right balance of friendliness and professionalism - the staff are what really make this hotel special. Looking at maps, this hotel looks to be a bit away from the attractions of Galle. Don't be deceived. Tuk tuks hang out within a 200m walk and the hotel can arrange one at a few minutes notice. The fort is about 7 minutes ride at a cost of about 350 rupees each way. The drivers were all friendly, safe and spoke good English. We will be returning.......

This hotel is located in an old colonial building with most of the rooms in the former servant quarters and the best rooms/suites in the old house. It is still a wonderful property that has been nicely renovated and modernised while keeping its charm. Rooms are a bit dark but that is keeping with the character. The thing to remember s that this hotel is not in Galle but a little bit out, and not particularly walkable.
